Wayne Kranium

Wayne was an only child and his middle-class parents owned a business producing Christmas stocking-fillers.  Wayne grew up hating Christmas, but loved stockings. Kranium left school aged 16 having passed exams in embroidery and glass blowing.  He joined the family business as Chief Stocking Filler.  Wayne started his first band shortly afterwards and became renowned for his flamboyant bass playing - drawing comparisons with Bernard Edwards of Chic and Eddie Fisher of The Bad Cats - and, influenced by his love of hosiery, his wearing of tights - drawing comparisons with Robin Hood and Marilyn Monroe.  Wayne called his self-styled concept 'Music and Tights'.  The band became popular in the pubs and clubs of southwest England before singer Lee John left to form hit eighties band Imagination.  Kranium's influence was clear to all in their number 6 hit 'Music and Lights'; a fact acknowledged in the song with the lyric:  

"When the sun is setting down

and gangs are ready for their fights,

I take myself home to pull on my tights"

Watching the success of Imagination from afar, Wayne returned to college to study armory when life’s card of luck landed squarely in his lap.  Fellow student Shag Fury was a long-term admirer of Kranium's 'Music and Tights' innovation.  He approached Wayne and the rest is rock history! Despite very different up-bringings, Wayne and Shag had one thing in common; the ability to write hit songs with catchy melodies and tour the world.  The Fury / Kranium writing partnership is often compared to that of Lemon and McCartney, and sometimes to Lemon and Lime Cheesecake.
